Tutor Information: Stephen Galvin is an expert guitar professional working from the Auckland City Centre where he has owned and operated an independent music studio since 1984. Stephen plays rock guitar, classical guitar and Jazz guitar styles. His teaching style is to provide student-centred learning with what he calls serious fun. The structure comes from internationally-recognised teaching resources such as TrinityRock, real-world music and the lessons are supplemented by music chosen by the student. Improvisation and creative learning are incorporated into the lessons from day one. Topics such as groove, co-ordination and style are covered in every lesson with the aim of making practical music enjoyable and uplifting; Stephen's goal as a teacher is to use every available resource to spread the joy of making music and make people's lives better through the experience of making music. He sees music as a positive and beneficial influence on people, bringing people together and bringing people into harmony with their environment.
